This pine sideboard is a wonderful example of Swedish country craftsmanship with a warm, aged patina in the original painted finish and contrasting green/teal paint along trimwork. Tones of blue, green, gray, and teal are all seen within this cabinet. Much of the original paint has been worn off, revealing the natural pine below as seen in photos.
The monogram and faded date of 1847 indicate this sideboard was likely commissioned as a wedding or dowry present.
Two doors open to reveal four interior shelves. The notched upper shelf was originally used to display silver spoons.
No lock or pulls; see upper latch that holds the right door in place.
Restored, strong and stable this cabinet is ready for use. Wax finish.
All scratches, cracks, dings, stains (see top) and age related separation (see top and back) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special sideboard.
