18th Century Danish Oak Secretary Bureau, Painted Black

18th-century Danish oak secretary with a newer professionally applied layered black exterior finish and a contrasting dusky blue interior with gray undertones. The surface is lightly distressed to complement the age and character of this stately bureau.
The upper cabinet locks with a large skeleton key, which also operates the drop-front desktop lock. The writing surface rests on two extending arms. The interior includes twelve small drawers and a central cubby that opens with a key to reveal two additional small drawers.
The base features three large Rococo-style drawers with a slender drawer above. The upper interior contains one standard shelf and a curved, notched upper shelf originally used to display family silver spoons. A curved bonnet with decorative central detail crowns the top.
Back panels and some drawer bottoms show typical age-related separation, not affecting function. Restored, strong, and stable, this impressive 18th-century oak secretary is ready for use and showcases historic Danish craftsmanship.
