Late 18th-century Danish oak bureau or secretary featuring a newer professionally applied black layered painted finish, lightly distressed to reveal natural oak beneath and suit the age of the piece. The interior is painted a contrasting pale blue with gray undertones. The desktop opens on long hinges to reveal petite drawers and cubbies for storage and organization.
The lower section features three large Rococo-style curved drawers, each fitted with two attractive brass pulls. The secretary rests on feet with a scalloped skirt. Typical age-related cracks, nicks, and minor separation are present throughout from generations of use. There is no key for the interior desk. The upper cabinet door retains a key, though the lock functions very stiffly and is best used as a pull only. Restored strong, stable, and ready for use.
