19th century Swedish Gustavian bench, crafted in pine with a highly distressed original white painted finish with gray undertones. Generations of wear and scraping have left only faint traces of the original paint, revealing the warm natural pine beneath and creating an inviting aged patina.
Carved egg and dart details appear throughout the bench, complemented by simple beaded trim along the skirt. Fluted carved details run vertically along the legs, which are topped by four finials at the corners. Additional fluted carved panels accent each side and reinforce the classic Gustavian design.
The wood frame has been restored and is stable and ready to use. The existing muslin upholstery is aged, worn, and stained and is simply tacked in place. The bench is well suited for reupholstery by its next owner.
