19th Century Hungarian Original Hand-Painted Pine Chest of Three Drawers

19th century tall Hungarian chest of three drawers, crafted in pine with its original hand-painted folk art finish. A traditional brown faux wood background provides the foundation for colorful floral decoration across the drawer fronts in warm autumn tones of orange, red, blue, green, and yellow.

The three drawers are flanked by half-columns painted in contrasting black, all topped with a large carved black painted beaded detail under the top. The combination of colorful floral motifs, faux wood decoration, and dark architectural accents creates a striking example of European country craftsmanship.

Typical signs of age include old markings and scuffs along the top. A small section of wood is missing along the left side  but does not impact function. Abrasion along the right side has worn through the painted surface to reveal the natural pine beneath. Additional wear and distress are visible around the feet, consistent with generations of use.

Restored, stable, waxed, and ready to use.
