19th century Hungarian chest of four drawers dated 1865, crafted in pine with its original hand-painted folk art decoration. The warm, timeworn surface features traditional faux wood painting accented with floral motifs in autumnal earth tones, including red, yellow, and green.

The date 1865 is prominently painted at the upper center within a wreath or garland of flowers. Additional floral decoration embellishes each of the four large drawer fronts, while vertical fluted carving frames the drawers on both sides. Old hardware remains in place, with two ring pulls on each drawer.

The chest rests on raised block feet, which may have been added or replaced at some point in its history. The drawers function well, though gaps and nicks are visible, particularly around the lower center areas and corners. The bottom drawer displays additional wear from generations of use.

Age related separation and cracking are visible along the sides, with additional cracks, old markings, and distress across the top. The original painted finish has worn through to the natural pine in areas. Residual signs of old dried wormhole activity are also present but are no longer active. These signs of wear reflect the chest's long history and do not impact function.

Restored, stable, and ready to use.
