Rustic Console Table Carpenter's Workbench, France circa 1860-80

It is the years of constant use revealed in every ding, gouge, stain and scratch that enrich the character of this impressive carpenters' workbench from France.
Please examine the close up photos to appreciate the aged patina, joints and old hardware. it is the extensive wear and distress that creates the depth of character in this console.
This workbench has one long vice along the left leg which was a traditional feature. In the photo of the top, notice the multiple holes that served a purpose for the carpenter who originally used it, likely to attach other tools and hold in place what he was working on.

Depth to wood leg: 24.5"
Depth to metal vice on leg: 27"
